HMNZ Moa

The HMNZS Moa is a New Zealand navy minesweeper from World War II that was sunk by Japanese aircraft in Tulagi Harbour during refueling on April 7, 1943. 5 crew members were lost during the attack.

The Moa is a fascinating dive site. It's easy to imagine what it must have been like when it was still afloat, with the crew working hard to keep the ship safe. Now, the wreck is home to all sorts of marine life, including schools of jacks and trevally. It's not unusual to be visited by territorial batfish as you descend and ascend on the line.

It's an amazing place to explore, and it's definitely not one to be missed. However, because of the depth, bottom time is limited unless you have technical training.
