Bonegi II (B2)
Bonegi 2 or B2 as it is called by the local divers, is the shallow wreck site of the Kinugawa Maru, a Japanese freighter that was run ashore by her Captain on 15 November 1942 after sustaining heavy damage. She is 135meters in length and now sits just meters from shore with her superstructure jutting out of the water, making her hard to miss.
This dive has been rated as one of the best shore dives in the world by Scuba Diver Magazine.
You can easily circumnavigate the wreck, travelling from the bow down the port side past a gap between the sternpost and the rudder at 23meters. Be aware of your depth as the bright sunlight reflecting off the white sand can make it feel like you are much shallower than you actually are. Back up the starboard side you finish the dive just above the bow at 6meters.
Soft and hard corals cover the wreck and several varieties of anemonefish make their home here including spinecheek, clown and Clarkโs anemonefish.
