Japanese Maru #2
This Japanese cargo vessel is a stunning photogenic wreck covered in black corals. The deck gun lies hanging over the side and trevally fish hunt for their meals on top of it while groupers swim around below! For those with sharp eyes you may also see persian flatworms moving along the tattered walls where bombs from the fighting during WWII have left thier mark.
Divers have the opportunity to explore many WWII wrecks in the Solomon Islands. The wrecks offer a glimpse into life on a warship during wartime and death during battle. Even more interesting, many of these wrecks show the impact of war in their battered remains. This offers a unique perspective on history, as well as an opportunity to see how different parts of the ship were used during battle. In addition, many of the wrecks are in close proximity to one another, making it easy for divers to explore several different ships in a single trip.
